PETER McNEILDressing New South Wales is an Australian fashion tale of dreams and innovations. The fashion and appearance industries are too often considered light on’, but they were once a major part of the national economy and household spend. And one third of the first group of NSW convicts came from the clothing-trades. Peter will outline the big shifts from the late-nineteenth century to the glory days, post WWII to the 1960s and 80s. We share this crucial economic, social, migration, and cultural episode including Lithgow as a centre of making and innovation.
