LOVE & ART, Her Story
The Life Works of Anita Rezevska
March 5 – 22 | Opening: March 7, 2pm
Gang Gang Gallery, Lithgow
An intimate, heartfelt retrospective curated by daughter Zenta Zebergs.
This exhibition focuses on Zenta’s late mother Anita Rezevska, a distinguished painter, sculptor and etcher of Latvian heritage, and her father Antony Symons, sculptor and artist whose public bronzes are part of the region’s visual memory.
The show is an invitation to witness how love, loss and lineage shape artistic practice across mediums.
What to expect
-
Paintings and works that trace Anita Rezevska’s long career — portraits that reflect her Latvian roots, explorations of identity, motherhood and memory. Her work has been included in public collections and prize lists, and she has been recognised in major portrait and art prize circles.
-
The exhibition includes a small selection of works by Antony Symons including a glimpse of bronze public commissions through to more intimate mixed media works. Symons’ practice combined classical influence, spiritual inquiry and a deep respect for the natural world.
-
Drawings, photographs, studio ephemera and personal writings selected and arranged by Zenta contribute a narrative thread into her parents creative processes.

CRADLE OF CONVERSATION. Hands on Heritage
January 23 to February 28
A story of celebrating place by people. See how the road to recognition started with a small community of bush people early last century, as an idea and the saving of Bluegum Forest in 1932.
The movement grew over many decades, as did the National Parks of the Blue Mountains. Now people from everywhere can connect with this place of The Gum Trees where more than 100 species thrive, providing the umbrella for tens of thousands of other life forms.
Art provides the magnet for personal and community relations to nature, and a commitment to the natural world. The Banners became a symbol of personal connection to place, and celebration of World Heritage Status for the Greater Blue Mountains. Several generations of people hand printed and signed these banners, showing the passing of knowledge and the message of common values to look after country.
Curated by WYN JONES – Ecologist, Artist, Poet and Humanitarian.
