MAY 9th – THE FIR TRIO & KANIMBLA STRING QUARTET

TREAT MUM THIS MOTHERS DAY WITH THE GIFT OF LIVE MUSIC

4.30pm till 6.30pm – $35

THE FIR TRIO – Built around Kristina Frazer’s beautiful voice, the Fir Trio features an eclectic repertoire, loosely billed as jazz.  Swing standards, blues, contemporary songs and originals all have found their way into the trio’s repertoire. Kristina and her gorgeous voice lead veteran sidemen Andrew Ireland (double bass, voice) and Andrew Russell (guitar, voice) through their varied repertoire.

Their vocal trio is an outstanding feature of the group and their musical sense of humour infuses every performance.

KANIMBLA STRING QUARTET – Welcome to the Kanimbla Quartet, a string quartet based in the Blue Mountains in Western Sydney and is comprised of Rebecca Daniel, Elizabeth Cooney, Sam Harding and Trish McMeekin. We enjoy performing a wide range of music, from classical repertoire to modern compositions, including local upcoming composers. Our goal is to support our community with music, through both collaboration with local orchestras and choirs, as well as featured performances.
The Kanimbla String Quartet and the Fir Trio are teaming up for a fusion of jazz and classical music’s. Both groups are products of the fertile music scene in the Blue Mtns. and together they produce a big sound with a varied palette of instrumental and vocal colours. The fun and joy of music-making shows through on every phrase as they play through a program ranging from Cole Porter to Leonard Cohen, Lennon/MacCartney to Bach.
