Spike Flynn has released two albums of original songs – “It’s alright” and “Rough landing”. Both have been very well received. His first album “It’s alright” reached number 10 on the September 2010 Euro Americana charts. He won the alt-country section of the Tamworth National Songwriting Competition in 2017 and had three songs in the 2018 finals. He will soon be releasing his new album “Just this side of here”. Originally from the Central West of NSW and now based in Sydney, Spike infuses home town/country themes with an urban edge. He is an accomplished finger-picking guitarist in the style of Doc Watson and plays ‘rack’ harmonica. His original songs have a strong Australian presence but with universal themes. He has supported local acts such as Jim Conway’s Big Wheel and international acts including Kristina Olsen, John McCutcheon and Peter Rowan. Spike often performs with the two-piece band the Open Hearted Strangers, playing a mix of original songs, blues and country
